My Entrepreneurship Journey – New Beginnings

In 2018, I made a life-changing decision to become an entrepreneur. It took me about a year to implement the change. It’s not easy to leave a full-time job with benefits but I had to take a leap of faith. I’ve always dreamed about starting my own business. I’m grateful for my finance career that spanned over 30 years. I made a lot of good friends, met great people, and learned how to become a leader.

In June of 2019, I said goodbye to my finance job. I spent the next few months putting my life in order. Lots of decluttering. It’s amazing how much stuff you accumulate over the years. It was time to get rid of things that no longer served a purpose. Time for new beginnings. I created my company and hired a graphic design and marketing team to help me build a website and develop a social media strategy. I was definitely getting out of my comfort zone.

There were a lot of life adjustments. Salary, no salary. Structure, no structure. One role, multiple roles. Surrounded by people, being alone. For the first time in decades, I felt pangs of loneliness. I was used to going to an office every day where there was daily human interaction and now I was by myself. I had to learn to motivate myself on a daily basis. There are ebbs and flows and every day is different.

It is now November and my website represents what I want to achieve with my company. It’s been an amazing journey of self-discovery and finding out what matters to me. I believe that opportunities lead to opportunities. I don’t know where this journey will take me but I’m excited to see what unfolds.
